During the past week, 97 youth, aged 16-21 spent every day at the BC Legislature plotting out the course of the upcoming year for the 90th British Columbia Youth Parliament.
From December 27 to December 31st, members debated a wide range of government legislation that will empower BCYP to fulfil its motto of "Youth Serving Youth" throughout 2019.
In addition to the community service-based government legislation, the Members of Youth Parliament had the opportunity to debate Private Members' Resolutions on a wide range of topics. If passed, these resolutions are communicated to elected officials with the hope of influencing government policy.
Members passed resolutions that supported; expanding the B.C. high school curriculum, bringing ride sharing to B.C. and reducing the food waste.
