It's time for the province's youth to take a shot at running a government--a non partisan government.
Nearly 100 young people aged 16-21 from across BC are spending their holiday break in Victoria learning about Canada's system of government for the 88th session of BC's Youth Parliament (BCYP).
Sky Losier is a senior member of the youth parliament and says they have a delegated Premier, Leader of the Opposition and Speaker of the House, Linda Reid who is the current Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of BC.
"Speaker Reid has been a great supporter of the British Columbia Youth Parliament every since she was involved. She was the second female Premier of the BCYP and this year our Lieutenant Governor, Susan Hunter was the first female Premier. So for British Columbia's 100th anniversary of women receiving the right to vote, we have the first and the second Premiers of our Youth Parliament."
Each session of the BC Youth Parliament produces legislation that will govern how the organization functions for the coming year.
