The Mother of a young woman involved in a serious accident on the Malahat says her daughter is no longer in a coma.
Michelle Gibson tells CFAX news, Kayla-Marie was in a medically-induced coma to help with her pain and that she is now awake and is aware of her surroundings. She remains in Victoria General Hospital.
A Go Fund Me page has been set up for Kayla Marie Gibson who was seriously injured in a collision that closed the Malahat for nearly 14 hours last week. Yhe fuel truck driver suffered minor injuries.
RCMP still haven't determined the cause of the collision between the fuel tanker and a transit van that closed the route near Finlayson Arm Road Thursday morning.
