A 20 year old Victoria man is recovering in Nanaimo hospital after a grueling ordeal of survival.
Spencer Hunt became lost after setting out ahead of a group of other hikers near Nanaimo last Saturday. He says there was nothing to eat, and he survived by drinking creek water, and resting in a cave.
The young man says he is on the mend after suffering from exhaustion, hypothermia and frostbite.
"I'm feeling a lot better than before, like my body's not as cold and freezing and shivering as it was before. My heart rate has finally gone down and my feet are still sore, but they should be fine in the next couple of days."
On the third day, Hunt was finally spotted by a search and rescue helicopter outside of an area they had been searching in.
