A woman was knocked unconscious by a falling speaker at Royal Roads Sunday.
The woman was there to view the iconic RCMP Musical Ride when a 6 foot speaker she was sitting beside fell over, striking her on the head, and causing her to bite down forcefully on her tongue. Her husband was also hit, suffering a goose egg, but he was otherwise okay.
The victim was taken to hospital where an MRI confirmed she had suffered a concussion, as well as bumps and bruising.
The Victoria Military Music Festival Society, which organized the event, is investigating why the speaker toppled. They have also extended an apology to the victim, along with wishes for a full recovery.
The Musical Rides' 32 riders and horses were here to perform as part of Canada's 150 Celebrations.
