Vancouver Island show dog "Miss Andie" isn't showing any signs of letting her big win at the prestigious Westminster Dog show go to her head.
The 3 1/2 year old Newfoundland dog from Ladysmith took "Best in Breed" this week at the New York event, beating out 18 other Newfoundland dogs to do it.
Her owners Cindy and Doug Savory told CTV Vancouver Island they still have their heads in the clouds over the win:
Cindy: "It was crazy, I was hugging all these randomn strangers."
Doug: " We don't often get emotional about these things, but I certainly did this time because that was a really big win for us."
The Savorys report "Andie" is just her old self -- begging for treats, cuddling, going for walks, and having her long black silky coat admired by passersby.
"Everybody is walking in the neighbourhood between 8 and 9 o'clock, and they're all congratulating saying we watched her on TV! We cheered for her!"
Miss Andie will compete once more this year before she retiring from show business to focus on becoming a mom -- perhaps of future champions.
