West Shore RCMP are dealing with a couple of robberies involving youth. Both incidents were at the same location, behind the Cineplex Movie Theatre at the West Shore Town Centre on Jacklin Road in Langford.
Tuesday, just after 3 p.m., police responded to a report of a robbery behind the theatre. They had received reports of about 7 youths fighting and that one youth had his backpack stolen. When officers arrived all suspects fled.
West Shore RCMP, with assistance of the Saanich PD K9 Division, located and arrested 4 youths in the area, and the backpack was recovered. No injuries were sustained by youths at the scene. Further investigation showed the parties are familiar with each other.
That evening about 6:15 p.m., West Shore RCMP received another report of a robbery at the same location. Police received information that 2 suspects allegedly robbed another youth and threatened the youth with bear spray. The suspects made away with 2 necklaces and a cellphone.
West Shore RCMP located and arrested the 2 suspects close to the scene.
The suspects, an 18 year old man from Victoria and a 16 year old youth from Esquimalt, were held in custody for a court appearance.
