A shoptlifting suspect found out the hard way you can run, but you can't hide from West Shore RCMP
After receiving a complaint from security at the West Shore Town Centre Mall that a shoplifter had just left Winners, wearing a pair of pink shorts he allegedly stole from the store, officers responded and spotted him right away.
But the suspect ran. A bystander pointed out the area they had seen him and within minutes he was located.
Cst. Nancy SAGGAR says the man had run through a blackberry bush onto a property located Brittney Drive wherer he wrapped himself in a blue plastic tarp. But the shape of a human body in a tarp wasn’t hard for police to spot .
He was arrested for theft under $5,000 -- the shorts still had the tag on them.
The man was taken to hospital to be treated for wounds caused by the blackberry bush. He's been released from custody pending a court appearance.
