Saanich Police say they are investigating after an alarming post on a web site created to help solve 24-year-old Lindsay Buziak's murder in 2008.
The 24-year-old real estate agent was slain in February 2008 in Saanich while showing a house as part of her job.
This past weekend a posting on a web site run by her father Jeff seemed to indicate a Victoria man, known to police, essentially confessing to the crime.
The post includes a poorly written confession that starts with, "I killed Lindsey and stupid cops will never prove it so you all got nothin."
Saanich Staff Sergeant Chris Horsely says it's difficult sorting through who said what and proving they said it when it comes to social media and on line activity. "It's a tip, it's difficult for us because in the realm of social media and especially on blogs people are anonymous some people are posting using multiple user names and some people also might be posting for some other reasons. We'll triage it like we always do and we'll move forward. The investigation is continuing."
The investigation into Buziak's murder, led by the Saanich Police Department, is nearing its 10th anniversary as an unsolved crime.
NBC profiled the crime on its highly-rated Dateline program.
