The Victoria SPCA has removed 75 cats from an area cat hoarder, and is caring for over 50 of the animals at their shelter.
Branch Manager, Annie Prittie Bell, would not reveal exactly what part of the city the hoarder was, but says the person did surrender the animals to the SPCA, which means once they are nursed back to health they will be up for adoption.
In the meantime the shelter is putting out an urgent call for supplies and cash to care for the sick kitties:
"Our biggest needs will be for donations like towels and sheets, as far as in shelter supply needs ... canned cat foods. But really the biggest is going to be financial. We're probably looking at tens of thousands of dollars in additional dental costs that we weren't anticipating and we weren't budgeting for."
Prittie Bell says the cats are dehydrated, have eye and upper respiratory infections and will require dental surgeries.
