Victoria Police allegedly assaulted after two separate incidents last night

One officer was sent to hospital with nonlife threatening injuries Thursday night in the downtown core.

Victoria Police say in two separate incidents Thursday night officers were allegedly assaulted, resulting in an injury in one case.  At 10pm Thursday,  police say they found a woman camping on Warf Street. When the officers offered the women a ride to a warming shelter or a legal camping spot, she allegedly lunged at the officer attempting to move her.  

Another police officer ended up in hospital with non life-threatening injuries, after responding to a fight on Douglas between Yates and View at 2:30am. When officer the intervened, a young woman involved in the fight, allegedly assaulted the officer.

This was the fifth attack of this nature on a Victoria police officer in the last month.

Vic PD is recommending charges against a woman for assaulting police in the case.
