Victoria's mayor is thanking the provincial government for bringing in another balanced budget, one she says puts families and a strong economy first.
In a release, Lisa Helps applauds the new BC Child Opportunity Benefit, and elimination of interest from all BC student loans, saying the investments will make life more affordable for young people and families.
Helps is also singles out new funding for people living in poverty, and for mental health and addictions, saying the supports will ensure vulnerable residents finally get the help they need.
And the mayor says since climate action is a key priority for the city, she's happy to see the historic $902-million investment in the CleanBC plan.
And finally, Helps says and meaningful reconciliation -- another city priority -- will be bolstered thanks to a revenue sharing agreement between the Province and BC First Nations, allowing communities the autonomy to invest as they see fit.
