The family of a Victoria man who died in an accident at an indoor trampoline centre is suing the facility for negligence.
Jay Greenwood, 46, died in January after somersaulting into a foam pit at Extreme Air Park suffering serious injuries and going into cardiac arrest.
Greenwood's wife, Tanya Hayes, and 3 young children, are named as plaintiffs in the notice of civil claim filed in BC Supreme Court.
The claim says Greenwood visited an Extreme Air Park Inc. location in Richmond in January where he somersaulted into a foam pit.
The lawsuit alleges staff failed to supervise Greenwood, failed to provide any safety instructions, and failed to prevent him from participating in activities outside his physical abilities.
It also alleges Greenwood was not warned of the dangers of diving into the foam pit head first, or to ensure the pit was wide enoluhg, or deep enough, and had enough foam.
Extreme Air Park has not yet filed a response to the claim, and none of the allegations has been proven in court.
The family is seeking general and special damages. No dollar amount is provided.
