Victoria Fire sent 19 firefighters and all available equipment to a report of a structure fire on Scott Street. Crews arrived around 7pm, and found flames and smoke shooting from the back of the home.
Once inside the house Battalion Chief Wayne Moody says they found one adult male and crews immediately began performing CPR.
"He was declared, I believe, deceased on the way to the hospital."
Graham Wray lives in the area and was out walking his dog when he saw the smoke and flames and called 9-1-1.
"I was just hoping nobody was inside because all the lights were off, but then I saw them pull somebody out."
The investigation into the cause of the fire continues. Damage to the home is estimated at 300 thousand dollars.
