A Victoria landmark has been sold.
Haultain Fish and Chips, one of the region's oldest and longest-serving establishments will close its doors November 29th. "It's time, I still want to be able to do things before I leave at my age and all."
But don't fear the new ownership, although unnamed at this point, tell owner Mary Schmidt they want things to remain the same. That includes staff; recipes and hours of operation.
Mary took over the business in the 70's and left everything just the way she found it and she's touched by all the interest in her life's work. "Good memories it's been so nice how people have come that haven't been in many years just to be there for the last time."
Haultain Fish and Chips has been serving up their legendary lightly battered fresh fish with homemade tartar sauce and traditional fries since 1924.
Mary says she is working on the best way to say goodbye to the shop; her customers and all the people who she has met over the years.
