The Victoria International Kite Festival Society has announced it's discontinuing the annual kite festival at Clover Point. The popular weekend long festival began in May 2014 and offered kite flying, kid's kite making and entertainment.
The event was the creation of former Kite Festival Executive Director John Vickers who left the city last summer after accepting a job opportunity in Toronto.
In a news release Vickers says the board informed him that they have not found a way to continue the event.
Vickers says this marks the end of the festivals he helped establish in Victoria. Vickers also produced the International Buskers Festival along with the International Chalk Festival, neither of which now operate on Victoria's waterfront.
The Downtown VIctoria Business Association launched its own event last year, calling it the Downtown Buskers Festival.
