VicPD is trying to locate a man they say has been involved in a couple of incidents Saturday.
Officers are asking for your help in what they call an urgent search for a man who tried to steal a cell phone and made off with a beer while making comments that alarmed the people who reported these incidents.
The man, who has not been identified, is described as a Caucasian man in his 30s, standing 5'10" tall, with a medium build. You can see a picture of the man on our CFAX website and Facebook page.
The man has a short, but unkempt brown beard and several prominent tattoos on his hands and fingers. He was last seen wearing a camouflage hooded jacket and blue hat, grey pants and was wearing a grey backpack. Two photographs of the man are below.
The man has been involved in two incidents this morning. In the first incident, which occurred just after 10 a.m., he allegedly attempted to rob a woman of her mobile phone in the 300-block of Harbour Road.
The woman was not injured and her phone was not taken, but during the interaction, the man made comments to the woman that caused her concern for his mental health and personal safety. She called the police.
A short time later, officers were called to a brew pub and liquor store in the 300-block of Catherine Street where the same man left the premises with beer without paying, during which time he made comments to the staff which also caused them concern for his mental health and personal safety.
Staff also called police.
