VicPD officers are reminding the public it's illegal to operate a car while impaired -- and the same applies to boats.
Police says they were called to the Dockside Green neighbourhood dock last Wednesday to meet a boat that was tying up, following a complaint from a caller.
The caller said they watched the boat become stranded on a sandbar for a considerable amount of time as the operator struggled to resolve the issue. The caller also observed signs the boat operator was impaired.
Officers also noted immediate signs the operator was impaired by drugs, took the man into custody, and confirmed the man was impaired.
He was held in cells, then released on a promise to appear along with conditions, including a prohibition on operation of his boat for a 24 hour period.
The man will appear in court at a later date.
