A day-long standoff at a multi-unit residential building on Cook Street yesterday ended with one person in custody, and at least one more still on the loose.

It started with a robbery at about 7:45 a.m. where a victim was injured with a weapon, but police have not said what kind.

The suspects then barricaded themselves in a suite in the building located in the 23-hundred block of Cook, near George Jay School.

Greater Victoria's Emergency Response Team, Patrol officers, and crisis negotiators worked throughout the day to resolve the incident safely.

Traffic on Cook Street, between Bay Street and Queens Avenue, was closed during the incident.

At around 6pm police reported they had arrested one person, and were looking for at least one more.
