A Port Alberni man accused of a brutal sexual assault in a hotel room in Denver, Colorado has entered a plea of not guilty.
Colby Messer is charged with two counts of sexual assault. The thirty year-old entered his plea during an arraignment hearing in Denver this morning.
A 27-year old American woman contacted police last November, saying she couldn't remember how she got to the hotel room but could recall being sexually assaulted with various objects, including a lamp and a telephone.
Messer was initially charged with six counts of sexual assault, but four of those counts were dropped in late-August. Messer was released from custody after posting a $300-thousand dollar cash bond, but was ordered to remain in Denver and to wear a tracking device until proceedings have concluded.
His next court appearance is set for November 28.
