A local charter bus company’s president says Greyhound cancelling most B.C. routes will not affect the island.
President and CEO of Wilson's Group bus company John Wilson says Greyhound has been pulling out of the island for a while.
“On Vancouver Island and the routes to Vancouver from Victoria nothing has changed, and nothing will change,” Wilson said. “Greyhound has systematically moved off Vancouver Island throughout the past five years. Tofino Bus’s up island service looks after all the island and the freight on the island, and is connected at the capital city station in downtown Victoria.”
He says the main effect on the island is the loss of connectivity from the rest of the province, but transportation on the island will effectively remain unchanged.
Wilson says he and the Tofino bus company owner are in discussion to cover the freight service to Vancouver that Greyhound previously offered.
