Things started well for Victoria's new walk-on ferry service V2V Empress but an electrical problem knocked the ferry out of service for the third day on Thursday.
After a successful launch of Vancouver to Victoria harbour service over the weekend the high-speed catamaran V2V Empress had an electrical problem that started Tuesday, stretched into Wednesday and disrupted service for the third day in a row, Thursday.
Operations VP Nick Cheong says they fixed the problem and then went through rigorous testing. "We spent most of the day yesterday working with our suppliers and team working to repair and rectify the issue today was a day to make sure the vessel was working properly. We want to make sure the vessel is fully functional."
After Thursday trials in Vancouver Cheung says the V2V is ship shape. "After the trials today (Thursday) we are all set to sail."
Impacted passengers were offered a refund, or alternate transportation during the cruise disruptions.
The V2V is expected to be back in service Friday.
