The union representing logging truck drivers in the Lake Cowichan area is expressing sorrow over the death of one of their members.
A 60 year old driver died at Caycuse when his rig left the road and ended up with the cab submerged underwater. In a news release USW Local 1-1937 officials say while there is an investigation underway, the union also sent its own team to the scene of the crash to assess the situation, gather as much information as possible, and assure other incidents of the same nature do not occur again.
The Union says it's in the process of assisting the family in dealing with the tragedy and assure that any counselling that is needed is available for all who need it. The victim's name has not been released.
