Now that a developer has gotten the green light from Victoria City council to build a 5-storey residential and commercial building in the Cook Street Village, he's getting down to the business of getting final plans drawn up.
The mixed residential and commercial building at Cook and Oliphant will include 53 homes -- 17 of them rentals. But until now controversy on whether it was a fit for the popular neighbourhood had forced numerous changes.
Now - Leonard Cole, President of Urban Core Ventures, is meeting with architects to start the final plan, with construction slated to start in the spring:
"We're going to see what the coming month will bring. We have some pretty detailed speculative drawings that we've been using as the base for our application and we're anticipating that March or even in April we'll be putting a shovel in the ground."
The homes will include 1, 2, and 3 bedroom units plus townhomes - as well ass commercxiasl and live/work opportunities.
Cole estimates completion will be in mid to late 2018.
