West Shore RCMP dealt with crashes and reports of shots fired on Tuesday morning.
The Happy Valley Market, off Happy Valley Road, was cordoned off by the RCMP at 11am, where they we're investigating reports of shots fired in that area. It does not appear anyone was injured. West Shore RCMP have released a press report, saying that two vehicles, a white Kia SUV and a brown Cadillac sedan, were seen speeding away from the scene, heading southbound on Happy Valley Road.
RCMP were on the scene at Kelly Road and the Veterans Memorial Parkway, dealing with an unrelated crash. Langford Fire says the crash happened around 10:30am when a pick-up truck hit an SUV. Paramedics could be seen assessing people from the vehicles, including one infant.
Shortly after the reports of the shooting came in, the white Kia SUV crashed into the existing collision. Officers, who were already on the scene, quickly and safely arrested the driver. A gun was also seized from inside the vehicle.
The second vehicle was found abandoned on Leila Road in Colwood. CTV VI captured video of the Cadillac being towed away with what appeared to be a hole in the rear driver's side window.
The driver of the vehicle was last seen on foot in the area of the Royal Colwood Golf Club. He is described as a Caucasian man in his 30's.
David Cameron Elementary and Savory Elementary went into "hold and secure" mode as the situation unfolded. The school district says the kids had their lunch indoors.
At this point, investigators do not believe this incident is related to another shooting in Langford two weeks ago. RCMP is asking anyone with information on this incident to call 911 immediately, or file an anonymous report to Crime Stoppers at 1-888-222-8477.
