A convicted killer with ties to a past West Shore murder has been recaptured after he went missing from prison in Mission.
Correctional Service of Canada staff noticed yesterday (Fri) afternoon that Robert Raymond Dezwann was unaccounted for in the minimum-security unit of the Mission Institution.
Dezwann is convicted of killing a teenage girl in 2001.
The 53-year-old Dezwann is the father of Kruse Wellwood who brutally raped and murdered 18-year-old Kimberly Proctor of Langford in March 2010.
Wellwood and his accomplice Cameron Moffat were sentenced to life in prison with no chance of parole in 2014.
Mounties have yet to share other details on how he was able to escape the institution.
