Members of the 4-H Beef & Swine Club were left wondering "Where's the beef?" when two steers escaped a farm in Saanich on Wednesday.
At about 9:30am, an 11 year old black steer named OPR, and a 10 year old red and white steer named Big Mac, made a daring daylight escape from the farm on Caldecote Road.
Club Leader, Susy Chung, says they tracked the beefy runaways to Matterhorn Trail, which leads to West Saanich, when the trail went cold.
"We figure it's been quite warm, so they're probably hiding in the bush or maybe laying down in the shade, and they'll start moving again when it gets cooler, and looking for water."
She says the steers are docile, but still very big, weighing over 1000 lbs each.
The steers have been found, and Chung says they were nearby, hunkered down in the shade.
