A tsunami warning remains in effect for parts of the Alaskan coastline following a strong earthquake Friday morning.
A preliminary magnitude 7.2 earthquake stuck at 9:29 am local time. It was later downgraded to a 6.6.
The quake was centered 13 km north of Anchorage at a depth of 42.8 km.
Reports of damage -- including buckled roads -- are circulating on social media.
Coastal areas affected are the Cook Inlet and Southern Kenai Peninsula in Alaska.
Officials say there is no tsunami danger for British Columbia or Washington state.
