Saanich police are looking for a vehicle that left the scene of an accident after hitting a young girl early this morning. It happened about 7:30 a.m. in the vicinity of Glanford Avenue and Kenneth Street.
An officer on scene says a 6 year old girl and her 15 year old sister were crossing at a controlled pedestrian crosswalk when it happened:
" They were crossing the crosswalk after hitting the illuminated lights for the intersection. As they stepped into the intersection they didn't believe there were any vehicles oncoming. However at the last second the 15 year old sister noticed there was a vehicle that was fast approaching and didn't appear to be slowing down."
Police credit the quick action of the teen who pulled her little sister back, and prevented more catastrophic injury to the little girl.
The vehicle did not stay at the scene, and was last seen heading north on Glanford.
Police are asking the public to be on the lookout for a white car, possibly a late 80s or early 90s boxy model, with a silver bumper, and a damaged passenger side mirror.
