A realistic looking gun and a refusal to back down to police landed a man in custody on Tuesday.
Victoria Police say they were called to the 2600 block of Blackwood Street at around 2:00 p.m. because a man was brandishing what looked to be a handgun.
When the man refused to follow police directions he was taken down by non-lethal bullets.
Police say they found out the gun was a fake after they took the man down.
“These replica firearms are very convincing,” Acting Chief Constable Del Manak said in a release. “On a call like this, until our officers have the firearm in their hands they have to treat it as though it were real.”
The man was then taken to hospital as a precaution and the investigation is on-going.
