The Hunt is on for the owner of a 40-foot trawler that was intentionally run aground in the small community of Lund Thursday night. 3 men were taken to a hospital and one man was arrested.
Diver's; Coast Guard and Environmental assessment teams spent most of the day Friday trying secure and contain fuel leaking from the trawler. Jeff Brady with the Coast Guard environmental response says, "once it's secured and off the sea floor we'll tow it around the corner where there's a lift and get it out of the water to stop it from polluting."
The Trawler was run aground in the Marina after running into difficulties. The vessels captain was taken into custody and the RCMP are investigating. They are also trying to contact the owner of the boat to make sure they understand they are on the hook for the cost of clean up.
