CRD Director Mike Hicks says he wasn't trying to make a political statement when he changed one of his meeting times because of traffic on the "Colwood Crawl."
Hicks requested a committee meeting he chairs be pushed to 10am, because it was getting hard to travel from Sooke to downtown in time for a 9:30 meeting. He says he has other business and family commitments that keep him close to home in the early morning hours.
Hicks says he's missed meetings before because of traffic and he adds he's not alone. He says it’s getting difficult for many politicians from the West Shore and beyond to fight the worsening traffic situation.
He was asked by C-FAX 1070's Al Ferraby about all the attention this is getting, after a front page article in the Times Colonist this morning. "Our scheduling was such I could move it half an hour and I didn't think the world was going to end but that's the way it is."
Hicks says he's been receiving a lot of negative feedback since the issue hit the front page of the Times Colonist Wednesday morning.
