About 50,000 people turned out in downtown Victoria Saturday to celebrate Canada’s sesquicentennial.

Band member Anthony Carone says he couldn't think of anywhere he'd rather be. "I'm really happy to be Canadian and what better way to spend it than at the Parliament of Victoria here."
Victoria's living Flag attracted more than 5000 people, easily outpacing both Calgary and Winnipeg's efforts, just over 3,000 people turned out in both those cities.
Parking downtown at on-street meters and City parkades is free today.
