Victoria Police are dealing with another case of somebody getting pricked by a discarded syringe downtown – and we're learning about how it almost happened twice to the same woman.
An employee of a hair salon on Johnson Street, between Douglas and Blanshard, was pricked a few days ago while tending to an outdoor planter box.
"We have nice planters out there to attract attention and to beautify the street," the salon owner told CTV Vancouver Island. He says the same employee went back to tending the plants on Monday when it almost happened again. "She looked before she went in there and started watering things... and a needle was standing straight up. She said the police said that was intentional."
The owner, who preferred not to have his name broadcast, says the employee is okay. She's awaiting a blood screening test as a precaution, "she's a very strong person and a highly intelligent woman and I know she can deal with anything. It's just... why should she deal with this?"
This is the third known case of somebody getting stuck with a needle downtown this month. The first was a toddler at the Pandora McDonalds. The second was a dog walker on Pembroke.
