Fire departments on the West Shore are in need of more volunteer firefighters.
Colwood Fire is conducting its annual recruitment drive and is short a few members.
Greg Chow, Assistant Fire Chief Training Officer with the Colwood Fire Department, says it’s been harder to recruit volunteers firefighters.
"They're finding it harder and harder to devote that much time to a volunteer fire organization. Because it's not just something you can put away--you're on call 24/7. When the pager goes off, we do expect volunteers to respond."
The Colwood Fire Department is looking to recruit 4 to 6 members and wants fill those positions early in the new year.
You need to live in Colwood, be 19 years of age or older, pass a criminal record check and be in good physical condition.
