The Luck o' the Irish was shining on southern Vancouver Island's weather forecast over the St. Patty's Day weekend.
A total of 38 communities enjoyed record warm temperatures on Saturday, March 16.
Locally, a new record was set at the Victoria International Airport: 19 Celcius, melting the old record of 18.3C set in 1947.
The Malahat topped out at 17.8C, surpassing 14.5 set in 1988.
Up Island, Port Hardy reached 15.4C, skimming past 15C set in 1947.
Environment & Climate Change Canada meteorologist Armel Castellan reminds us it's still mid-March, so don't put your toque away just yet.
He says it will remain chilly at night.
"Because we're still ahead of the Equinox, we're only going to feel the heat in the afternoon. They overnight lows will still dip to 5 or 6C for most places on Vancouver Island.
And it will be at least a week before we see clouds or any real precipitation."
Armel says the temps will cool off again after the Spring Equinox on Tuesday, with cooler temperatures and rain expected in Greater Victoria by Wednesday.
