Voters in Sooke will head to the polls Saturday (Sept 28) to fill a vacant council seat.
The seat was left empty after councillor Brenda Parkinson died after a battle with brain cancer in June.
There were originally 10 candidates in the running, but 2 dropped out this month.
Former Mountie Jeff McArthur stepped aside for family reasons, and Kevin Robar dropped out for health reasons. Robar was in the news in August when he was reported as a missing person.
Since both men droppedout of the race just recently, it was too late to take their names off the ballot.
Candidates hoping to win the seat are: Herb Haldane, Dana Lajeunesse, Lorraine Pawlivsky-Love, Kevin Pearson, Mick Rhodes, Britt Santowski, Christina Schlattner, and Jeff Stewart.
Balloting begins at 8 a.m. and runs to 8 p.m. at Edward Milne Secondary School.
