A Sooke man has agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge in the homicide of his mother.
Sixty-four year-old Pamella Dyer was found dead in her home in the 22-hundred block of French Road in Sooke in the summer of 2014.
Her cause of death hasn't been publicly released. Police initially labeled the death suspicious, but stopped short of describing it as a homicide.
Dyer's son, Michael McCormick, was arrested shortly after the death on an unrelated matter, and, two months later, the 38-year old McCormick was charged with second-degree murder in the death of his mother.
This morning, McCormick pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder, but agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge of manslaughter, which was accepted by the crown.
Sentencing has been set for four-days, starting on October 31.
