Snow has been falling around Greater Victoria since late Thursday night and people are waking up to white yards and streets. As much as 10 cm snow fell on the Malahat overnight, according to Environment Canada's preliminary data. Approximately 5 cm of snow fell on average for the rest of Greater Victoria. A snowfall warning is still posted and we expect more snow through the morning before it changes to rain around noon. CTV Vancouver Meteorologist Astrid Braunshmidt says it started to shift to rain in some places on the south island as early as the 7 o'clock hour.
Roads:
Victoria Transit says their buses are returning to normal routes after, earlier this morning, they were bypassing side roads that had not yet been clearned. Some exceptions remain and BC Transit is posting that information to its Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/bctransit since it's website has slowed down due to heavy usage.
Some main roads have been cleared but they remain slippery. The Malahat has compact snow on the road surface at the summit, but no crashes have been reported this morning (as of 8am). Stay tuned to C-FAX 1070 for updates.

•University of Victoria is open.
•Camosun College says both Landsdowne and Interurban campuses are OPEN, but PISE is closed.
•Greater Victoria School District (61) OPEN today.
•Sooke School District (62) says schools and buses are OPEN and running. Port Renfrew school and the bus from Port Renfrew is not running
•Saanich School District (63) is OPEN and buses are running
•School District (64) says Salt Spring Island schools and all Gulf Island schools are closed today due to road conditions.
•Comox Valley School District (71) closed due to snow
•Cowichan Valley School District (79) says all public schools are closed today and no school buses will be running. Students and staff asked to stay home.
•St. Patricks, St. Andrews, and St. Josephs are open.
•École Victor-Brodeur will be closed today, the buses are not running
•Lighthouse Christian Academy in Langford is closed.
•Cathedral School is closed.
•Elizabeth Buckley School in Victoria is closed
•Sprott Shaw College on Douglas Street is closed due to the weather.
•Discovery School on Wilkinson Road is closing today
•Pacific School of Innovation and Inquiry downtown is closed today
•Selkirk Montessori School is closed today due to the snow
•Maria Montessori Academy in Victoria will be closed today. No bus Service and no school for all students.
•St Christopher's Montessori School is closed today
•Arts Caliber Academy is closing both its elementary and preschool campuses today due to the weather.
•Arcadian Early Learning in Duncan is closed today
CFB Esquimalt:
CFB Esquimalt’s base commander is asking only critical personal come to work today due to hazardous road conditions. Contact your supervisor if you need more information.
Flights:
Victoria International Airport says snow is now shifting to rain at the airport. Runways are open and operational. Some flights have cancelled or delayed because of conditions elsewhere. You’re advised to check your flight status before going to the airport.
Inner Harbour flights have been cancelled so far due to the weather. Helijet has announced some delays early in the morning and they will assess as the day goes on.
