Esquimalt's Mayor wants to make sure plans to break ground on the new sewage treatment plant at McLoughlin Point in February aren't moving too fast. Barb Desjardins is calling the time table to build the new sewage treatment plant at McLoughlin point in February "too agressive". “I think we all know time is running out and that it is an aggressive timeline.”
Desjardins worries the plans will overload the municipal staff. She also says she would be asking for the same clarity for any other project and Esquimalt intends to follow this cautious process to ensure the project meets the criteria to move forward. She also says the municipality is doing its best to work with the project board.
“We want to try and get it through in as quick a timeline, as safely as we can and that requires having as much information at the front end as possible.”
