New details are emerging in the discovery and nature of the inappropriate messages shared between suspended Victoria police Chief Frank Elsner and the wife of one of his subordinate officers.
The messages sent over direct message on Twitter over a six-month period are being described as “salacious and sexually charged.”
The Victoria Police communications department found the messages and reported them. There are 48 messages being investigated in total.
It was also revealed that Elsner and his officer’s wife shared a hug and a kiss in his office.
There are also some more details regarding the police board's initial internal investigation.
The investigator found that was an inappropriate relationship between Elsner and the woman, contradicting what Police Board Chair Barb Desjardins said last November when the board concluded that wasn’t the case.
Elsner's petition to end an external investigation into his actions is being heard out in a Vancouver courtroom this week.
