Saanich police are asking for help identifying the driver responsible for hitting and killing two dogs in a crosswalk.
Acting Sgt. Jereme Leslie says a man was walking on Grange Road on Friday morning when he entered a crosswalk at Interurban Road and both of his dogs were hit.
"In this particular case the owner was crossing the street at a marked crosswalk; had his dogs leashed; had a light on himself; and had even put lights on his dogs."
Both dogs died as a result of their injuries.
The driver who hit them stopped briefly to ask the owner if he was okay before fleeing the scene. The driver is described as a white man in his early-twenties with blonde hair. It's believed he was driving a newer, blue two-door sedan that may now have some damage to the front end.
