Saanich police have a 42-year-old Saanich man in custody after another man was found with serious stab wounds in the parking lot of 2925 Qu'Appelle Street around 8 am Saturday morning.
Police responded to reports of shots fired, but it turned out it was a stabbing that occurred inside the apartment building and spilled into the parking lot.
Staff sergeant Chris Horsley says the building was placed in lockdown mode and stayed that way into Saturday afternoon.
"It looks like this is some sort of dispute. One fella did attack the other. The injuries are quite significant however the 44-year-old victim is expected to live."
Staff sergeant Horsley says the two men were known to each other and the suspect was apprehended about a kilometre away riding a bicycle; covered in blood; carrying an edged weapon.
He's been taken into custody charges of aggravated assault are pending.
