Saanich will be holding a special council meeting Saturday morning, Oct. 28th in order to receive public input on a controversial bylaw designed to protect the district's environmentally sensitive areas.
The meeting is being held to consider the long-awaited report into the future of the Environmental Development Permit Area (EDPA) bylaw.
Residents have raised concerns about its economic effects, ecological effectiveness and process.
Saanich Mayor Richard Atwell says the issue has taken a lot of time and effort to find consensus and commonality around it.
"Now I think we have all the facts that really explain what we have in front of us. But how we go forward, that's going to require a direction and some more effort. What form that takes is really going to be up to the votes on council, and to date, they've been somewhat split.”
The final report calls for 15 recommendations that aim to revise several defects in the bylaw.
The meeting will be held at Pearkes Recreation Centre Fieldhouse beginning at 10:00 a.m.
