Deputy Chief Scott Green was the unanimous choice of the police board
Saanich has announced who their new Police Chief will be when current Chief Constable Robert Downie retires this summer.
Deputy Chief Scott Green has been chosen. GReen has 31 years with SannichPD, and take over duties on August 1st.
He becomes the 17th Chief Constable in the Department's 113-year history.
Board Chair, Mayor Fred Haynes, says the decision was unanimous.
Green says he's honoured to be chosen, and pleased the Police board accepted his recommendation to promote Acting Deputy Chief Gary Schenk to Deputy Chief .
