One week after The Vancouver Canucks were hit by the Mumps, the Victoria Royals may now be battling the disease.
President and G.M. Cam Hope says out of an abundance of caution the team has isolated Head Coach Dave Lowry and Defenceman Mitch Prowse. Both are showing Mumps symptoms and will be tested. Hope also says everyone in their organization has been inoculated but in some cases one shot is not enough. "Our team is fully inoculated but around the league and even a few years ago in Pittsburgh with the Penguins some of the players who contracted it had their shots, so it's not 100 percent protection."
Hope stressed this is a precaution and Coach and player will stay with the team, in isolation until test results are back. The Royals play Kelowna Saturday before travelling to Vancouver to play the Giants next Tuesday, before returning home to play Everett next Friday.
