The Rifflandia Music Festival in Victoria is in full swing and there's something new this year.
Co-owner of Atomique Productions Nick Blasko says, in addition to the regular venue at Royal Athletic Park, they've roped off a section of downtown near Capital Iron for new performance spaces.
"This is brand new for us. It's a collection of three amazing venues anchored down by a street. We're calling in Electric Avenue. Essentially it's Discovery Street between Government and Store."
Blasko told the C-FAX Morning Show with Al Ferraby he thinks they've done a lot to alleviate noise levels that have previously caused complaints. "We've gone to great lengths to try and cut down on impact." He says, for example, they're now ending early on Sunday night with music over by 8:30. Blasko says they also "lowered the trim height" on their speakers in the past and they adhere to the city's decibel limits.
The Rifflandia Music Festival is in its 9th year. Performances started Thursday last night and will run through the weekend.
