It’s been 10 years since Victoria has had a visit by the Chinese Navy. So today we rolled out the red carpet.
An official welcome Thursday for 3 Navy Frigates at Ogden Point, over 100 people gathered on the docks to welcome the crew.
Wang Wentian with the Chinese Embassy told the crowd the visit is designed to establish military trust and understanding as well as build a foundation for maintaining peace in the region.
Media from both sides of the Pacific covered the event. The 3 Chinese Captains were presented with Christmas trees. Maritime Forces Pacific says public tours will be held at Ogden Point from ten to four on Friday, and from ten to three on Sunday.
