Comox Valley RCMP responded to calls from a concerned citizen on June 26 around 11:30 p.m. of shots fired near the Comox Lake dam.
Media relations officer Monika Terragni says there were several people at the scene when police arrived.
“Police went to the area right away and found several people, several vehicles and several shell cases on the ground,” Terragni said. “Further investigation at the scene led to the discovery of a hand gun inside one of those vehicles. The hand gun has been seized by the police and we’re continuing our investigation at this time.”
Terragni says the citizen did the right thing in giving them a call, allowing them to respond quickly to the scene.
At this time Terragni says it is too early to tell why the people were at the scene as the investigation is in the early stages.
No one was injured, and no arrests or charges have been laid at this time.
