A rare bird discovered in dire straits last week off Ogden Point has succumbed to its injuries.
A female brown booby was found suffering from a puncture wound in its chest, and was malnourished.
In a statement the centre says the bird’s health declined despite intensive treatment administered by staff at the BC SPCA's Wild Animal Rehabilitation Centre (ARC).
Wild ARC cared for 2,207 injured and orphaned birds in 2017.
